Last month I didn’t write a post. I was mentally drained, but for a good reason. A friend of mine proposed a challenge. It was to write every day. Didn’t matter how few words per day. We both wrote every day. I accumulated 44k words for a romance novel. It was already started before the challenge. It’s nowhere close to being done, but that’s ok. I’ll explain why further down in the post.

At my workplace, I finally have the position I wanted. As long as no one calls off during my shifts, I don’t have to deal with customers constantly. I work in a grocery store deli, and the amount of rudeness over a cut of lunch meat is absolutely ridiculous. In our department, we have an automatic machine that cuts lunch meat for our prepackaged area. It’s in the corner, and most customers don’t even know I exist. It also comes with a consistent schedule and fixed rate of hours per week. I’m content for now.

Writing Progress

Mielea’s Lost– I have one more full read to do before I decide what’s next. As I mentioned before, I have a lot of homework before I even consider a publish date. I need a book cover, blurb, and proofreader. Proofreaders come closer to the true publish date.

The homework part for me is figuring out how to go wide with my book, because I don’t want Amazon to be my only income. I could enter the query trenches, but I don’t have the patience for that.

Broken Shackles– the second book in the series that takes place right after Mielea’s Lost. I wrote a couple more pages of it. Then I noticed I needed to reread from the beginning to make sure I was still sticking to the plot. I wrote an outline of the current written chapters. Hopefully this helps so I don’t have to reread as much to find information I need in the future.

Romance WIP– I will start referring to this particular WIP as Project Trapezoid. In May, I wrote a total of 44k words. It is nowhere near being done. At the moment, it looks like it could be a trilogy of books. During the writing challenge, I wrote whatever plot points that came to mind. Some I might not use. Some I know will make it into the actual first draft. The MC’s have a way of telling me what they want easier than some other WIPs I have. This is fun to write for me.

Project Phoenix– The second draft is on hiatus for now. Not forgotten. I have realized I can’t juggle two book edits and drafting two books at the same time. I want to give the characters the time and justice they deserve. Rushing edits will not be ideal in the long run.

Next month’s goals?

As of writing this, I would like to get the ball rolling for getting Mielea’s Lost ready for publication. Maybe I’ll try to write a blurb or find a book cover artist this month.

Getting further progress on Broken Shackles would also be beneficial. I would like to have the first draft at least halfway done before I publish Mielea’s Lost. Mostly, so future readers won’t have to wait too long for the sequel.
