September/October 2026

Happy Autumn, everyone!

The past two months felt like I accomplished nothing other than going to work. However, reading over my writing log journal showed that I was wrong and that I’m being ridiculously hard on myself. It wasn’t a record-setting month, but every little bit helps toward the greater goal.

One of my other pastimes has started. Hockey. I love watching hockey and going to games. For the past three years, I have been following it more. Last year, I also discovered the women’s professional league, the PWHL. I can’t wait for their season to start.

The love of the game as a whole gave me snippets of ideas for a book. The book I currently refer to as Project Trapezoid started forming back in November of 2025. The first story chapter drafts started in June/July of this year. I work on this story alongside Mielea’s Lost sequel, Broken Shackles.

Writing Progress

Mielea’s Lost– In September, I secured a beta reader for November. The story has evolved since working with an editor. I want to make sure the plot makes sense to a new, fresh set of eyes. This should be the last time I need to make adjustments before formatting and proofreading.

Last month, I also secured a proofreader for May of 2027. The person I wanted was filling up very fast. It is not as soon as I would like, but I have told myself it gives me more time to figure out other publishing things.

Broken Shackles– In October, I wrote two more chapters, and then I hit another part where I’m not sure how to write it. I could skip it. It’s a rough draft, but I really don’t like skipping entire chapters and writing backward.

This was also a great time to back up all the current chapters so I don’t lose everything. It’s the best thing to do when burnt out from workdays.

Project Trapezoid– In September, I wrote four more chapters. The story is certainly taking some turns that I didn’t expect. I’m a plantser by nature with rough and first drafts. I have certain plot points in mind, but how I get there most of the time is a complete mystery even to me.

Unlike some of my other WIPs, I started a character reference document. So far, I don’t have that many characters to keep track of. In the future, I hope this helps me keep things organized. Also I hope it helps me find details I need without scrolling twenty-plus pages to find an answer.

Writing Miscellaneous– For years, I have been making digital backups of old handwritten WIPs. The ones I’m backing up, I plan on doing something with them eventually. It’s been four months since the last time I have even looked at that stack of notebooks. Progress is progress.

Next Month’s Goals?

Next month is my birthday month. I plan on having a writing sprint. The plan is to write something every day. It has nothing to do with the ‘famous’ NaNoWriMo challenge.

I will post about how well it went at the end of the month!
