This was a great month. At my job, I may have secured myself a better position within my department. It all depends on staffing issues and if any unforeseen cuts or rule changes happen between now and late July/ early August.
Without getting into too many details, it likely won’t come with a pay increase. I will be away from seventy percent of customer interactions. That is the part I am looking forward to the most. If more pay comes along with it, that will make it even better. Right now, I’m looking forward to less customer interaction.
In writing, it was a productive month. I received the edits back from the editor for Mielea’s Lost. She helped point out what still didn’t make sense, from a reader’s standpoint. This was something I needed help with. She also did a copy edit while doing a developmental edit. It’s how the contract was discussed.
This was a great learning experience. I will remember the pointers given when making deep edits in the future for my next books. By the end of the month, I finished the edits, and now the second pass is being done. I’m excited to see where this goes.
While waiting for the edits for Mielea’s Lost, I made progress on Project Phoenix’s second draft. Four large sections have been handwritten. I have not started a new document for the new draft yet. I want to handwrite a large chunk of the manuscript before I do that.
Broken Shackles has a few more pages added to the first draft. With the first book in the series still being edited right now, it’s harder for me to jump back and forth. The few pages I added gave me a whole new potential plot thread to explore.
The Overlord Project’s first part has a minimal detail outline. The first part ties into a side plot in the Mielea’s Lost series.
Made progress on two other WIPs from the backlog. One of them is vying for my attention to be in the permanent rotation. At this point in time, I don’t want to balance projects in three different genres. It could be done. It’s not what I want to do.
The goal next month is to continue making progress on either Project Phoenix’s second draft or Broken Shackles. If both happen, that will be awesome. Keeping goals small because I don’t know what my work schedule will be. Trying to keep myself from being burnt out with everything.
See you next month!
