January/February 2026

The first two months of the year went by quickly. Over the past couple of days, I have been preparing Mielea’s Lost for its editing at the beginning of March. This is exciting and nerve-racking. In order to grow as a writer and for the story to grow, this step needs to happen. I’m a ball of nerves because of uncertainty. Getting out of my own head is going to be the most challenging part as I wait for the edits.

For the best news first. Project Phoenix’s rough draft was finished in mid January. I let it sit for a couple of weeks as I ordered a manuscript print from Staples. Yes, it needs a lot of work, but the fact that it’s finished is exciting. If I don’t count the terrible fanfictions I used to write as a teenager, this is the second book that has a complete rough draft. I started the next draft at the beginning of February.

Broken Shackles is coming along with four more chapters handwritten. I prefer to handwrite most of my WIPs rough and first drafts. It helps me get a better feel for the story.

Project Overlord has more world-building progress completed.

The Gamma Universe Project has more progress. It totaled nine handwritten pages. Not sure how much of it I will actually use when the time comes, but that’s another day’s problem.

As the end of February neared, the muses decided to gift me yet another story idea. This one has no immediate connection to any other WIPs I have. The idea has no title yet and will likely be shelved after all possible details and parts are written down.

How many shelved projects do I actually have? Many. The list grows yearly. One can say I will never run out of books to write.

The goal for next month is to make more progress on either Broken Shackles’ rough draft or the second draft of Project Phoenix. After the edits come back from Mielea’s Lost, I will likely start on those edits immediately. Until then, I’m attempting to stay out of my own head and write.

See you next month!
