August 2025

This month was not a total washout despite being overly stressed at work. I was hoping to have the final read of Mielea’s Lost done this month, but that was an unrealistic goal. Taking my time will catch more mistakes; that’s the hope anyway.

My next goal is to complete it before I go on vacation in November. This is more realistic, and by then, I might have more money saved to get an editor or manuscript evaluation. I’d love to have Mielea’s Lost published by the end of next year, but we will see what happens.

Since I plan on self-publishing, there is more work involved. Theoretically, with having Scrivener already, I should be able to format the e-book myself. That is a tutorial that I will watch another time.

This month, Project Phoenix has had new pages added. It took me a better part of a day to reread what I had since there was a two-month hiatus. This is still the first draft, and I already have a list of inconsistencies after the reread. First, though, getting to the end of the draft is the priority. I would love to have the first draft done by the end of the year.

Some of my other WIPs in the endless backlog got some attention this month. While stressed at work, I got some interesting inspiration for my one Urban Fantasy book. So, I followed that plot thread when I got home and yielded eight handwritten pages.

Within the Mielea’s Lost book world, there was a day I was bombarded with ideas for book 3. Though I am not done drafting book 2 yet, I wrote them down. If I hadn’t, there is a possibility the plot points would be forgotten.

My goals this month are going to be low since work has been roulette wheel of stress. Any progress toward these goals will make me content.

The goals:

  • continue drafting Project Phoenix
  • continue drafting Mielea’s Lost book 2
  • continue the last read of Mielea’s Lost

See you next month!
