July 2025

The past two months were not the most eventful, but I think a reset was needed. In June, I decided to buy a new writing program called Scrivener. Based on what I’ve learned so far, this seems like a good program to have. I purchased the program to start writing new projects in it and try to move away from Microsoft Word.

Since Microsoft is making it more difficult to turn the AI off in the background, I truly don’t know how much of my work may have already been fed into an AI bot. I also bought Scrivener to help format my work into ebooks in the future.

In June, I started reorganizing the chapters of Mielea’s Lost sequel into one file. Some small edits were made, and two new chapters were added.

Then in July, I began rereading Mielea’s Lost to find any last-minute plot holes, world-building, or grammar mistakes made during edits. This will be my last reread before deciding what comes next. Even after this reread, I know it will need an editor or a manuscript evaluation. While rereading, I’m still finding errors.

Mielea’s Lost is at the point where, unless there is a major inconsistency that I missed, there should be no more huge draft edits. So hiring an editing should be the next step in the process.

During these past two months, inspiration struck to write down some parts of two other projects. These WIPS I haven’t touched in a long time, but these ideas couldn’t be ignored.

Unfortunately, Project Phoenix has been put on hiatus for the past two months. Staring at an empty page bothers me more than letting the words flow on another project. It’s not being shelved anytime soon. A mini break was needed.

See you next month!
