January 2025

The first month of the new year went by fast. At the beginning of the month, I had a cold, so that set me back in editing. Significant progress was made despite this.

A total of six chapters were edited this month. It was more than I thought it was going to be. There were some days that I didn’t have the brain power after work to sit and edit chapters.

Project Phoenix is at 15k words. There is no set final word count for this WIP, so we’ll see where it lands after the first draft is completed. Some parts I have to go back and write because I skipped over them. The target word count was 50k when it was originally a novella-sized idea. While writing though, I think I’m going to go way past that.

On days I didn’t have the motivation to edit or continue Phoenix, I continued to make digital backups of older works. There was also a day I purged some old but terrible fanfics from my early days of writing. Not all of it was terrible. I found a few chapters of one that I forgot about. It was added to the ever-growing pile of WIPs.

Next month, I’m going on vacation with my fiancé to Saint Louis again to visit friends. We have tickets to go see the Blues versus the Kraken for hockey. As of writing this post, I don’t remember what else we will be doing.

During downtime, I’ll get some writing and reading done. I’m setting low goals for next month because of this.

Goals:

  • edit at least two or three chapters before going on vacation
  • make some progress on Project Phoenix or a WIP that isn’t finished.

Next month’s post may be delayed due to being on vacation.
